  15. Do you have power line surge protection?

  17. DO you have any way to test your surge protector?  It could well be the
  18. device worked, and got blown away by some storms and that is when
  19. your modem died.

  21. Are you using El-Cheapo modems?

  23. Is the house grounding system working?  Surge protectors don't do any good
  24. if you have high impedance house grounding.

  26. I would suggest you check to see if the ground wires to the surge protector
  27. are any good.
